Aoife is looking forward to finally perform again on stage after a long break due to the pandemic. In Staatsoper Stuttgart's premiere of Werther, she will sing the role of Sophie.

Despite the COVID-19 crisis, the Staatsoper Stuttgart were able to perform Mozart's Die Zauberflöte in the Stuttgart Wasen Autokino, where Aoife performed the role of Papagena. The production was fully staged, with each singer in an individual box.

Due to the COVID-19 crisis, the last 4 performances of La fille du régiment have been cancelled. Thank you to the wonderful cast, crew, musicians and TOBS for a wonderful and fulfilling production. I look forward to returning to this fantastic team and house in the coming seasons.

"Diese Marie überstrahlt alle", Bieler Tagblatt:
"And then there's Marie, the regiment's daughter, brilliantly sung by Aoife Gibney. A discovery, and the ideal casting for this role which has countless previous role models. The young Irish woman looks confident, bold and sympathetic. Her red beret on blonde hair is eye catching [...] The voice shows maturity and is nonetheless youthful: pleasantly timbered, nicely tinted in the recitatives and weightless and stratospherically triumphant. Such a singer of the title role is enough reason to put the opera on the season plan, and to go and watch it."

Alan Nielson, Operawire:
"Gibney’s vocal technique had much to admire, her attractive coloratura was nicely contoured, and her trilling was precise and securely delivered. Her phrasing was intelligently wrought, and displayed a high degree of agility." [link]

Cathy Desmon, Irish Examiner:
"Aoife Gibney, home from Stuttgart is terrific as the minx, Norina."

Michael Dervin, Irish Times:
"Aoife Gibney sparkled as Norina, the inappropriate object of his attention, and the higher and more racy the vocal demands, the better she sounded." [link]

Andrew Larkin, Bachtrack:
"Aoife Gibney embraced the complexities of her role admirably. [...] Vocally, she settled nicely into her role, her coloratura finely deployed showing an impressively high range."

Aoife is to make her first operatic return to Ireland since she left for Germany in 2016. With the Blackwater Valley Opera Festival, she will perform the role of Norina in Donizetti's comic masterpiece, Don Pasquale.
